3 Star Ingredients in Our Pumpkin Spiced Latte Recipe
In addition to traditional pumpkin pie spices, like Cinnamon, Ginger, and Nutmeg, this recipe also includes powerful immune-supportive herbs from our Immune Power Ashwagandha and Super Mushroom blend.
Rhodiola: Supporting Our Vital Force
“This is a really good herb to take every day to support resilience and our vital force,” says Ric Scalzo, founder of Kokora.
Grown in semi-arctic terrain speaks to its resilience and strength, Rhodiola is an adaptogenic herb that supports the health of our organs, our stress response, and our immune system, so we feel our best*.
To avoid contributing to the depletion of wild sources of Rhodiola, we’re proud to source ours from organic herb farms.
Maca: The Adrenal Supporter
Indigenous to the South American and the Andes region, Maca grows at 15,000 feet of altitude and has a tuber shape (like a small potato). Growing far above the treeline in cold, dry, and windy conditions, Maca speaks to strength and resilience. Similarly, as an adaptogen, it helps our body build a natural resilience to stress* while gently strengthening our immune system*.
“Maca helps build up our adrenal system and our system that helps manage our stress response,” says Ric.
Sustainably sourced from Peruvian communities in the Andes, our Maca is gelatinized, meaning it goes through a traditional heating process that naturally breaks apart its starchy bonds and removes most of its tough, indigestible fibers. This creates a more digestible herb that can help promote better absorption and assimilation of its key nutrients.
Astragalus: The Herb of Longevity
Astragalus is a unique herb that helps support our kidney system in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
“The kidney system in TCM is formative in our well-being,” says Ric. “The kidney system rules the reproductive system, and also rules the immune system. Astragalus is THE herb that would be my go-to if I wanted to deeply fortify my kidney system to strengthen my capacity for longevity.”
We source our Astragalus from a California-based company that prioritizes sustainability and rigorous scientific testing.
In addition to these three incredible adaptogens, our Immune Power also features our own regenerative organic Ashwagandha, along with super mushrooms, like Cordyceps, Chaga, and Reishi, to further support immune and gut health.
